NAS Deploys Red Hat Linux Under Parallels on Mac OS X

08.22.07
In response to requests from scientists for multiple engineering systems, the NAS Division's Engineering Servers and Services group recently developed and deployed a support model for installing and running the Red Hat Linux operating system under the virtualization software, Parallels.

This recent deployment, which was installed and runs using NAS' existing Linux infrastructure and support model, eliminates the need to purchase two engineering systems to support NAS researchers' works -- all tasks can now be done on a single piece of hardware. The new standard environment also provides researchers with a mobile Linux environment, allowing them to run codes remotely and off the network.
